How about relaxing, soaking in the sun and enjoying the warm waters of the Atlantic Ocean? Here’s a list of our favorite Brazilian beaches to visit this year.
Brazil is famous for its natural beauty and incredible beaches. This summer, how about relaxing by the sea of this tropical country? If you’re into partying all night or just relaxing, you can be sure Brazil has a beach destination for you.
7 best beaches in Brazil
1. Balneário Camboriú, Santa Catarina
Our list starts with one of the most popular destinations in the state of Santa Catarina, in the south of Brazil. Balneário Camboriú welcomes more than one million tourists during summer (between December and February) and has the infrastructure of a big capital city.
Balneário Camboriú is also famous for being a crowd pleaser. Whether you want to party all night, have a nice dinner or just relax, there is always something for everyone.
BC has, actually, a total of 10 incredible beaches to choose from and the best way to visit them all is by car. A nice tip is to drive through the Interpraias, an 8 mile road that will take you to six of them, including the Praia do Estaleirinho and Praia de Laranjeiras.
2. Praia do Espelho, Bahia (Mirror Beach)
Bahia’s coast is basically one incredible beach after the other, many of them among the most beautiful ones in Brazil. Of course, all of them are worth the visit, but only one made it to the list: Praia do Espelho.
It isn’t hard to understand why Praia do Espelho made it to this list and is considered one of the most beautiful in Bahia, as the blue sea and thick vegetation around it create a scenery worth of a movie.
Famous for its natural pools, the Praia do Espelho is ideal if you’re looking for relaxation. Nearby you can also visit the equally famous Trancoso and Caraíva, about 12 miles from Praia do Espelho.
3. Praia de Ipanema, Rio de Janeiro (Ipanema Beach)
Rio de Janeiro is always going to be featured, no matter what. And, of course, Ipanema couldn’t be left out of this list. As Tom Jobim said, the sun in Ipanema is almost like a poem. At the nearby Pedra do Arpoador, the sunset is so beautiful it became a tourist attraction.
Despite being small, only 1.6 mile in extension, the Ipanema Beach is perfect to have fun and know cool people. At any point you’ll find great hotels and restaurants and you’ll soon find out why Ipanema served as inspiration for so many songwriters.
The Ipanema Beach stands between Copacabana and Leblon, two of the most famous beaches in Rio de Janeiro. By car, you can also visit Paraty (155 miles) and Cabo Frio (99 miles) and make the most of your trip do Rio!
4. Porto de Galinhas, Pernambuco
The Northeast region of Brazil is mostly known for its incredible beaches, Porto de Galinhas being one of them. This beach was elected, more than once, as the best beach in Brazil and it’s easy to see why.
The bluish-green sea becomes crystal clear up close, white sand and coconut trees complete the postcard view.
Porto de Galinhas is located in the city of Ipojuca, just 37 miles from the Recife Airport, where you’ll find welcoming people and food that feeds the soul. Beyond the sea side and sand, there are many tours to enjoy while you’re there.
5. Praia de Jericoacoara, Ceará
The Jericoacoara Beach, located in the city of Jijoca de Jericoacoara, is also a gift the Northeast region gave us all. Decorated with coconut trees, ponds, dunes and the sun all year round, Jeri (how it’s commonly called) is part of a national preservation area and considered an ecological sanctuary.
If you’re looking for a place to relax and a closer contact with nature, Jeri is the right choice and will definitely make you forget about the rest world. The Sunset Dune is the ideal spot for an incredible sunset, don’t miss it!
Jericoacoara is 186 miles from Fortaleza, the capital of Ceará, and it’s well worth the ride from there!
6. Praia do Francês, Alagoas
Alagoas is considered the Brazilian Caribbean for its unbelievable and almost untouched beaches. One of the most famous is Praia do Francês, where you’ll find big waves on one side and a calm relaxing sea on the other.
There, tourists are able to take boats to the Saco da Pedra, one of the most traditional attractions thanks to the natural pools in a peaceful area.
Praia do Francês is located in the city of Marechal Deodoro, just 15 miles from Maceió, the state’s capital.
7. Praia de Pipa, Rio Grande do Norte
Rio Grande do Norte is yet another state in the Northeast region of Brazil known for its beautiful beaches. Pipa, located in the city of Tibau do Sul, 50 miles from the state’s capital Natal, is the most famous of them.
Known and loved by surfers, fishmen and tourists that come from everywhere to visit, Pipa has beautiful dunes and stands near cliffs, the perfect spot to see just how green the sea really is.
